Georgia man admits to selling drugs in Eastern Kentucky

Dennis Arnold “Dino” Lyons, 35, of Rex, Georgia, pleaded guilty Wednesday, April 23, 2025 to possession of meth and heroin with the intent to distribute and possession of a gun in a drug crime in U.S. District Court in Pikeville, according to court records.
In his plea agreement, he admitted that he would regularly travel from Georgia to sell meth and heroin in places like Knott and Powell counties. On three occasions in November, he sold more than 100 grams to an undercover informant, as well as 2 grams of heroin on one of those occasions.

In December, of 2024 he was pulled over in Perry County, at which time police found more than 4 lbs. of meth and nearly half a pound of heroin hidden in a spare tire, as well as two loaded guns in the center console.
Lyons now faces between 10 years and life in prison for the drug charge. He also faces between five years and life in prison for the gun charge, which must be served in addition to his sentence for the drug charge.
Lyons is currently being held in the Pike County Detention Center. He will be sentenced on August 7, 2025.
